Cape Horn, Washington

On a cool windy day, we made the short trek out to Cape Horn, Washington.  The fall colors were just starting to hit the Columbia River Gorge making the very scenic area even more photogenic . From one of the many viewpoints out along the Cape Horn Loop Hike we climbed up on a large stump to get an even better view.

Adventure to Bald Mountain

Last night Duke and I made the trek up to Bald Mountain.  It was awesome seeing Hood from so close while it was being lit up by the warm glow of the sunset. As usual Duke was cooperative, but on his terms. He didn't want to come sit near me and instead wanted to figure out why the camera was making noise while I wasn't behind it. Aside from a few bangs and bruises scrambling on the side of the hill to get down to a spot that had a better view, we both left pretty much unscathed and had a great time.

Here's a few from our adventure. Stay tuned for more!

A Week in Lake Tahoe.

I just got back from a great weekend in Lake Tahoe and explored a few different sides of the lake. It was nice getting away from the heat in Portland and getting to enjoy it up there.

Here's one shot of the crystal clear waters at Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Camping on the southern Oregon coast

For Memorial day, Gemma and I went and camped at Humbug Mountain State Park on the beautiful southern Oregon coast. There are so many beautiful beaches to explore. We lucked out and had nice weather the whole time, other than some fog that blocked our viewing of the meteor shower. It was a lot of time in the car, but it was definitely worth the drive to explore a new part of Oregon.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of going on my first hot air balloon ride with the awesome Vista Balloon Adventures. I surprised Gemma with a ride for her birthday and we both had a great time. The day started off very early so we could get up into the air soon after the sunrise. It was definitely worth the early morning for such a unique experience! We went up with another balloon which provided plenty of great photo opportunities along with the fog.

Fresh snow on Mt Hood

Here are a few more shots from snow shoeing to Ghost Ridge a couple of months ago. The view of the Mt Hood was amazing and we had a perfect place to set up a nice picnic to be able to enjoy it. Duke(my dog) was right at home in the snow and had such a great time hopping around.

Some of the fall colors along a stream off the trail to Bagby Hot Springs in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness, Oregon. I love spending time out in this area. It is so lush and peaceful with lots of trails to explore. It is about a 70 minute drive from Portland, but it is definitely worth the trek.

Snow Shoeing to a view of Mt Hood

A couple of weeks ago I went snow shoeing at Barlow Pass to a beautiful view of Mt Hood. It was nice getting up to the snow on such a nice day. Little did I know that I was going to be experiencing quite a bit of snow in Portland the following week.
