Josh is an active lifestyle and outdoor adventure photographer whose visual style is founded in his desire to capture situations in a unique way that engages and inspires the viewer. His style uses color and composition to create captivating images showing the mix of humanity and the amazing world that surrounds it. This desire to explore and capture remarkable sights and situations has taken him all over the world for commercial and editorial clients wishing to distinguish themselves and showcase their products. This search for different and new experiences brought Josh to Portland, the home of “weird.” Portland’s proximity to so many unspoiled natural settings does much to satisfy the urge to explore. Josh can often be found hiking in the gorge, exploring the mountain, and taking advantage of all the Pacific Northwest has to offer. When he’s not out on an adventure, Josh can be found tending to the ever-growing vegetable beds that are taking over the yard or attempting to beat his Malamute, Kodiak at tug-of-war (a mostly fruitless task).
Josh grew up in a household of photographers and this early exposure to photography helped shape his desire early on to pick up a camera. Looking for an outlet for his creative tendencies, photography ended up being the perfect mix of creative and technical pursuits. Josh studied photography and media at UC San Diego, sharpening the technical details of the hobby that already consumed most of his free time. He has lived and worked in Sacramento, San Diego and Portland further refining his style as an outdoor adventure photographer and taking every opportunity to travel to new and exciting places.
